Mohammad Al Mamun is a Bangladeshi researcher and academician currently pursuing his PhD at the Nanotechnology and Catalysis Research Centre (NANOCAT) at the University of Malaya, Malaysia. Born on December 25, 1976, he has excelled in the fields of electrochemical sensors, nanomaterials synthesis, DNA biosensors, and renewable energy. Mr. Mamun holds a Master’s in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (2011) from the University of Rovira I Virgili, Spain, and a Master of Philosophy in Physical Chemistry (2008) from the University of Dhaka, where he also completed his M.Sc. in Physical-Inorganic Chemistry (2001) and B.Sc. (Honours) in Chemistry (1999). His academic journey has been supported by several prestigious scholarships and fellowships, including the UM Student Financial Aid (2020) from the University of Malaya, the Bangabandhu Science and Technology Fellowship (2020/21) from Bangladesh, the URV MS in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Scholarship (2011) from Spain, and the National Science and Technology (N.S.T.) Fellowship (1999-2000) in Bangladesh. As an Associate Professor at Jagannath University, Dhaka, he has taught advanced topics in chemistry and supervised a range of postgraduate students. Before joining Jagannath University, he worked as a Senior Research Officer at the Armed Forces Food and Drugs Lab, Ministry of Defence, Bangladesh, and served as a Lecturer at Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST), Dhaka. Mr. Mamun's research is widely recognized, evidenced by over 1200 citations, an h-index of 19, an i10-index of 32 as of July 2024, and several international awards, including the Best Paper Award at the IEEE International Conference on Semiconductor Electronics 2022, IEEE RSM Conference 2023 and the Bangladeshi Students Excellence Award 2024 from the University of Malaya. He is a life member of the Bangladesh Chemical Society and the Bangladesh Oceanographic Society and has been affiliated with the American Chemical Society since 2022. Actively involved in various research projects, both as a project director and associate director, he focuses on the electrochemical determination of environmental pollutants, electrochemical conversion of carbon dioxide, nanomaterials synthesis, characterization and applications including the development of low-cost electrodes, electrochemical sensors, and biosensors technologies. His ongoing PhD research focuses on optimization of carbon nanomaterials-based electrochemical DNA-aptasensors for point-of-care diagnostics. Mohammad Al Mamun's dedication to scientific research and education, combined with his extensive experience and numerous accolades, make him a significant figure in the field of chemistry and nanotechnology. His contributions continue to impact both academia and industry, driving innovation and fostering a deeper understanding of complex scientific phenomena. |
