I have been teaching Anthropology since 1999, starting as a lecturer at Rajshahi University in Bangladesh before becoming a professor at Jagannath University in Dhaka. I earned my MSS from Dhaka University and an MA from Flinders University in Adelaide, Australia. I hold a Ph.D. from the Department of Anthropology at the University of Tehran in Iran. I have published three books: Women in Television Advertisements: A Comparative Study of Australia and Bangladesh (2011), Western Theories in Eastern Eyes: Essays on Gender and Feminism (2013), and Rupsa 1998: Kinship, Migration, and Changing Social Organizations.
